Q #1: Is it a good idea to do a lot of cardio if you eat too many calories in a day?

I don’t like to look at exercise as a form of punishment or purge for overeating.
Here are the 2 ways to solve it better:
1) If this happens once a month, it is not a problem. Just go about your normal life and stay consistent with your regular exercise pattern.
2) If this happens once a week or several times a week, then it is a nutritional behavior problem that needs to be corrected and excessive exercise is not the answer.
Build your body up, don’t knock it down.
Q #2: What is the best interval training program for fat loss?

No interval method has been proven to be the best for fat loss…but of course, intervals have been shown to be better than regular cardio for rapid fat loss.
So using a variety of ranges for fat loss is like using a variety of rep ranges for muscle growth. That’s what I prefer.

Q #3: Craig, I started your beginner fat burning workout several weeks ago (I’m finishing the four weeks this week and then I plan to move on to the advanced fat burning workout for 4 weeks).
Over the last 14 months I have lost 85 kilos. Included in the weight loss period, I started walking almost every day and progressed to body weight exercises and running a little hill in addition to walking. Worked with dumbbells off and on. Made some nice progress. I need to continue the weight loss another 20-30 pounds. All this is background.
My question is I’ve read about 50 year olds (I’m 49) needing more recovery time between workouts. I’m fine doing Turbulence Training – just checking in with you to see if you have anything to suggest for someone my age doing these workouts. I think I’m fine doing those 3 times a week because the intensity is high but the duration isn’t high.
Any insight would be helpful. I just want to continue with something I can stick with long term.

It sounds like everything is fine. Fortunately, the fat burning workouts are designed to give you more recovery than traditional 5-day-a-week body part training. Use the days off for recovery methods (walking the dog, running errands, etc.).
Take a week off every few months, do a low-volume, high-intensity workout, and do some different things to improve your recovery.
