At just 21 ounces, this reel fits the bill quite well. A lightweight wheel gives me the freedom to react quickly and easily change position as the match progresses. Penn has done a great job of solving the weight problem by using a high-tech, lightweight graphite frame that is as functional as it is good-looking. The coil is made of aluminum that has been anodized. Anodizing is also a way to make aluminum more durable and stronger. Without getting too technical, I can say that in the anodizing process aluminum is subjected to a chemical process that creates a strong, reinforced surface coating. Finally, the 320LD has a stainless steel horizontal wind. Expect to pay around £199.99 (£134.99 on special) for this wheel.

The 320LD spool will hold an ample 380 yards of 15 pound test line. The gear ratio is 4.3:1. I have found this reel to be invaluable for fishing in challenging locations such as over wrecks and around uneven ground. With the updated lever feature replacing the old star system, this reel is significantly updated. I appreciate how easy it is now to change the draw voltage with just the flick of a switch. Much improved!
