At Last – A Junk Food Junkie’s Solution to Losing Weight!

Have you ever tried to lose weight by simply deciding you would stop being a junk food addict? You finish the last 4 Oreos in the bag and then spend the next three or four days eating nothing but yogurt, chicken and bland sandwiches. Then what happens? You find yourself opening a new bag of Oreos because you feel like life isn’t worth living if you can’t enjoy what you’re eating.

Don’t worry. This happens to most junk food addicts because they think they can only lose weight with force and quick changes in their diet. Although this looks good on paper, it doesn’t work for the majority of people because the approach is called cold turkey. Changes should be made gradually in order to work for the long term.

First face the facts. You are a junk food addict. You’ve been eating junk food for a long time and it’s hard for you to eat carrots instead of delicious McDonald’s fries. You’ve spent years getting out of shape and being sedentary. If it happens overnight, you will remember it. No one breaks old habits easily.

In order for anyone to lose weight and maintain it well, one must lead a healthy lifestyle. Knowing this is important because it is the main goal for anyone who wants to lose weight. Leading a healthy lifestyle includes exercise, proper nutrition and a sense of well-being for the areas of life that bring you joy. Everything every day.

Your first thought might be that you need to work hard to break your junk food habit and lead a healthy lifestyle. Exercise every day? Who has the time and energy for that?! And proper nutrition will bring you back to those bland salads again, right? incorrect! People with a healthy lifestyle eat McDonald’s French fries and Oreos. They just don’t eat it all.

In terms of exercise, everyone should stay fit and active which is 30 minutes. Walking, running, cycling, dancing, rollerblading, skiing…it doesn’t matter. If you can’t spare half an hour every day to ensure the health of the only body you need to take care of in your life, you need to make more changes than just losing weight!

Does all this have to do with how you can stop being a junk food junkie? many! Now that you know leading a healthy lifestyle is your ultimate goal, you can prepare a road map to get there. Everyone wants to be there at night, but setting a realistic time frame to achieve your goals is a more effective and productive approach.

Maybe your parents told you to eat vegetables when you were little. Somewhere along the way you decide to eat yourself and junk food replaces what you know as a healthier option. The shock value of going back to those vegetables without continuing to eat your junk food won’t work for you. I say keep eating your junk food.

what? Continue to eat junk food? Well, that’s my advice. But here’s the catch. Instead of eating junk food every time you sit down for a meal or snack, choose one meal a day that you will change to a healthier food choice. I told you this would be gradual. If you usually eat Cheez-its every day at 3 pm for a snack, eat a bowl of granola cereal.

After making these small daily changes for a few weeks, discipline yourself to take it to the next level. Now that you can eat well once a day, go for two! This can be two snacks, two meals or a snack and a meal. I’m going to eat this time because it will accelerate weight loss more than changing the habit of snacking every day.

So after this month, you don’t eat junk food all your time? You’ve probably lost some weight but you still eat pizza every Friday night. Hmmm… interesting how this works. Now that you’re eating right without giving up the foods you love, it’s time to think about exercise.

We have determined that you do not have 30 minutes a day to hit the treadmill. Okay, how about 5 minutes? Everyone has 5 minutes to walk around the block. Spend 5 minutes a day doing this for a week. Once you start feeling better, which you will, you will want to do it more often. I can almost guarantee you will find 10 minutes in your busy schedule.

Keep going at this speed. Increase your exercise time every week by 5 minutes. After half a month you will be up to 30 minutes and that’s it! Whether you want to continue to improve your health is your choice, but in general, people only need 30 minutes of continuous exercise per day to maintain a healthy weight.

Even if you’re reading this and know you can eat better than you eat a day, or exercise for more than 30 minutes, don’t do it. You’ll just burn out like all the other times you’ve tried to lose weight. Keep it gradual and eventually you’ll get to the point where you’re exercising and eating healthy without a second thought.

This approach worked for me 15 years ago and I have maintained a weight loss of 70 pounds since then. I had severe asthma and at first I couldn’t exercise, but when I got better, I suddenly stopped taking medicine and went outside to ride my bike every day. Words cannot describe how happy I am to be able to do this now and breathe properly now.

For change, you must change. Just remember kicking the junk food junkie habit doesn’t have to happen overnight. In fact, the more gradual it is, the more effective it will be in the long run.
