Lawn rollers, seeders, discs and harrows, power rakes and even mini-font end loader buckets can be purchased from different tractors and sub-compact tractor companies.

You will find when you shop that tractors fall into several different categories according to their capabilities. A lawn tractor is basically a large lawn mower that can pull a small trailer, rake leaves or maybe push snow. Tractors will weigh more and have stronger and larger components. The tractor may have a slightly larger engine, a cast iron rear housing and may be able to handle a snow thrower attachment. A sub-compact tractor for about $ 12000 or so, even heavier, can use wheel weight or tire weight, front end loader and backhoe attachment and mow 5 hectares more easily. Roto-tilling my garden once a year doesn’t seem to justify buying a rototiller that will sit for 11 and a half months of the year. Daily rental is about $45 so $45 I have to keep the garden and the rental center store all year round.

A power washer is another great tool for the average homestead. Washing decks or sidewalks, house siding or barn floors are all made easier with an electric washer. They are quite cheap and do a good job. Maintenance is enough to make sure it is drained when stored and check the engine oil.

If you have these tools, you can achieve a lot. As time passes and you can afford it, adding some additional equipment to your tractor such as a post hole digger or a dozer blade can make bigger jobs easier and faster.
