Fast Muscle Mass Building-The Ten Success Principles
As the saying goes, “many methods, few principles, methods may change, but principles never do,” this holds as much validity as weight training and bodybuilding as it does. Every day we hear about revolutionary new training programs, exercises, tricks, quick fixes, you name it. While I can’t say that I agree with the various “ways” to gain weight and build muscle today, the principles of achieving your goals will remain the same.
As a result, I have created what I call, “Ten Success Principles for Building Muscle Mass Fast.” I have listed these principles so that even the skinniest hardgainer can apply and grow from. Follow these principles, keep them in mind, and you will be on the right path to the long-term success of your venture. If you are wondering what is the best way to build muscle fast, your answer is below. You just need to apply these principles.
Principle 1: You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know – Be a Student
When we understand that you don’t know what you don’t know, we can become more teachable and absorb knowledge that can be applied for better results from the gym. If you have a “know-it-all” attitude, it means that you are stagnant and your mind will not go beyond the current situation. Being a student for life for weight training and bodybuilding, read as much material as you can about each subject: training, diet, supplements, all the works. One word of caution: be careful where you get your opinions and information. Just look for those with proven results, and watch out for “armchair experts” and “bodybuilder magazines.”
Principle 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Far too many trainees today just wonder aimlessly around in the gym what sport they like and why go out when they feel like it. If you don’t have a target, you will hit it with incredible accuracy! In other words, if you don’t know exactly what you’re trying to achieve by going to the gym every day, you’re not going to get anywhere. Always make sure you’re in the program, and stick with it for the end. Find out the “why” and you will be able to solve the “how”. Always go to the gym knowing exactly what you want to do down to the last rep of the last exercise.
Principle 3: You Get What You Picture
As David Schwartz said in his fantastic book, The Magic of Thinking Big, “Confidence, strong belief, triggers the mind to figure out ways and means and how… Disbelief is a negative force. When the mind does not believe or doubt, the mind pulls “reasons ” to support infidels.” Always go to the gym with a positive attitude and be confident that you are gaining muscle mass. Get rid of all negative beliefs about your success or you will pay the price to achieve what you envision.
Principle 4: No Great Success without Great Commitment
If you are not faithful, you can be swayed. Fix in your mind exactly the result you want, and commit to yourself that you will do what it takes to get it. When you are committed, truly committed, no small thought or discomfort will stand in your way to your goal. You will be unstoppable and eventually you will come to a foregone conclusion. As Yoda said, “There’s no trying, just doing.”
Principle 5: You Only Lose When You Accept Defeat as a Reality, and Decide to Stop Trying
Failure is the key to success. The price of success is thousands of failures. Those who refuse to pay that price will never succeed in getting the body they want. As long as you learn from your experiences you will always move forward. Keep learning and doing, and do this cycle over and over again until you succeed. Success often comes right after many people quit. Remember, “those who retreat never win, those who win never retreat.”
Principle 6: Less is more – Quality, not Quantity
If your goal is to gain weight and/or build muscle mass, don’t forget to exercise. All the muscles need is intense training with compound exercises and 110% effort, several days a week. Don’t think that training 7 days a week for 2 or 3 hours a day will produce better results. Focus on several exercises, several days a week for no more than 1 ½ hours, above. Overtraining is one of the main causes of failure when trying to gain weight and build muscle. Don’t confuse ambition with exercise time, it’s not how much time you put into the gym, it’s how much time you put into the gym that counts.
Principle 7: Major in Compound Exercise
Although there are thousands of training programs that you can find today, one truth that will never change for gaining muscle mass is compound training and it will always be the best. Exercises such as squats, bench press, and bent rows will always remain at the top of the list of successful bodybuilders. Focus on these and other core compound exercises and you won’t be disappointed in your results.
Principle 8: Work hard
Nothing beats good old fashioned hard work and what better way to express it than weight training. Unfortunately, today’s media is always trying to make exercise and training “easier.” If you’re building muscle mass, you’re going to have to put in the blood and sweat and tears, there’s no two ways about it. As long as you do some solid workouts for muscle mass and use safety precautions and common sense, then push yourself to the limit each workout. You will never ease your way to true muscle mass, even if you train easily for a thousand years.
Principle 9: Too Progressive
If you want more muscle mass, you need to keep adding weight regularly, period. This is one of the most basic yet overlooked principles of gaining muscle mass. Get in the habit of progressively increasing your weight whenever you can. The moment you settle down and stop pushing yourself is when your muscle mass will stop. Resistance is the only opportunity for growth. The worst thing you can do is to reach a goal without setting another goal.
Principle 10: The right diet
I can’t leave this one out. After all, the food you eat is the direct fuel for muscle growth. You can exercise until the cows come home but without a proper diet plan to build muscle mass your body just won’t grow, it’s not very physical! You need to know the right foods to build muscle properly. Read the first principle and learn everything you can about diet for muscle mass so you can get the most for your efforts in the gym.
