The grapefruit diet is considered by many nutritionists to be harmful due to the lack of essential vitamins and minerals and the low calorie content (less than 1200 calories per day). On the other hand, adding grapefruit to every meal can be beneficial to a healthy person’s diet, as long as the dieter is not allergic to grapefruit or taking medications that interact with lemon.
Grapefruit diet is a low-carbohydrate diet that usually occurs in a two-week cycle (12 days on the diet with 2 days off), which is repeated until the desired body weight is reached.
