The Paleo Diet Is Eating Like a Caveman – The Best Choice for Fat Loss

I know there are countless books out there about going prehistoric with your diet and eating like a caveman, but I thought a quick article on the Paleo diet might be easier for you than a big book.

To save you more reading, I’ll tell you that going Paleo is a step in the right direction. Not perfect, but in the right direction. It helps you burn fat and lose weight. There you have it, if you’re not a big reader, no need to read on, you’re on the right track.

But if you want to know where the Paleo diet falls short and how you can improve it for health and weight loss, read on.

Hunter Gather Diet

The hunter-gatherer diet existed before the advent of agriculture and, of course, before processed foods and fast food from fast food chains. Neanderthals had a simple diet. They ate whatever they could pick, gather or touch. This means that their diet consists of meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, roots and nuts. As you can see, this list contains no grains, legumes, dairy, salt, refined sugars, or processed fats.

Bodybuilding and Paleo

You may be surprised to learn that eating like a caveman is very close to what bodybuilders do before a competition. It works great to lose weight fast. The basic diet of a physical competitor, such as a bodybuilder or fitness model, consists of lean proteins, nuts and seeds, green vegetables, and a little fruit. It is free of all processed foods, dairy products, grains and most starches. As you can see, it’s not too far from the Paleolithic diet.

Why is it beneficial to eat like a caveman?

This type of diet is effective for several reasons. The main thing is genetics. Our genetic code hasn’t changed much in the last 40,000 years. Therefore, our body is still not used to eating foods produced today.

As you can imagine, the caveman did not open his food. There were no TV dinners, canned food or takeout. They had to fight only with bark, skin or bark.

Everyone is a little different, and everyone has a little leeway in their eating strategies.

Activity levels and diet

For an active person or athlete with normal levels of body fat, it doesn’t make sense to eliminate 100% whole grains, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, beans, and the like from their diet. These substances are very important for athletes who perform at the highest level. It helps with energy and productivity.

A good way to deal with these carbs is to keep them in your diet for performance when you need high performance. Then cut them out or reduce them if you want to maximize fat loss. Remember that these carbohydrates are natural and unprocessed. The best example is oatmeal. There’s instant oatmeal with added sugar and fortified ingredients, or 100% natural oats that take time to cook. The first is bad, the second is good.

Refined carbs are definitely something you can do without. It is best to eliminate these foods completely to speed up your weight loss and fat burning ability.

When it comes to choosing the right diet plan and weight loss regimen, I think people get too caught up in current trends. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to say allow a high carb low fat type of diet. A more sensible approach is to eat whole foods that require less processing. You can eat vegetables and fruits without any processing, you can go to the garden and pick apples, wash them and eat them. The next level is cooking. You take a piece of fresh fish or chicken and eat it. It’s just one more processing step, and that’s fine.

Stay as close to these two patterns as possible and you will maintain a healthy weight.
