Lemonade Diet – Cleansing For Better Weight Loss
The Lemonade Diet isn’t really a diet, it’s a cleanse. What does this mean? The Lemonade Diet is a fast diet that allows you to go without food for at least ten days, designed to cleanse your system of all toxins and harmful substances. The original name of this diet/fast is the Master Cleanse and it is often referred to as the Lemonade Diet because your only food is a type of lemonade made from maple syrup and lemons.
If you’re looking for a diet that you can stick to for the long haul, this is definitely not it. You cannot eat lemonade on a diet, and it is not recommended to use it for more than 40 days, because you will really start to starve. If you don’t have a lot of discipline, this is not the diet for you.
Guidelines for the Lemonade Diet
During the lemonade diet, you can only drink lemon juice, water, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and tea. There is no solid food in this diet because it is actually fasting. For at least ten days, you should drink ten servings daily according to the following recipe:
– 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice
– 2 tablespoons organic grade B maple syrup
– 1/10 teaspoon or more cayenne pepper
– 1 p. purified water (not tap water)
You can make a large batch of lemonade by increasing the amounts above, but don’t refrigerate it for more than three days.
In addition to ten daily servings of lemonade, you drink herbal laxative tea every evening and salt water (made from 2 teaspoons of sea salt in a quart of warm water) every morning. A herbal laxative tea called senna and a salt water rinse will help flush more toxins from your body. It is also allowed to drink a small amount of peppermint tea.
At the end of the lemonade diet, you must follow a strict eating and drinking plan to “come off the cleanse” and you will not be able to eat normally for a while.
Lemonade Diet Experiments
It is important to note that the Lemonade Diet is not intended as a weight loss diet. Rather, it is designed to clean the system. However, most people who follow the lemonade diet lose weight—after all, you’re cleansing your body and ingesting very few calories—and lose about 5 to 10 pounds overall.
The idea behind the Lemonade Diet is that it gives you energy, an appetite for healthy foods, a clear mind and a healthy body. Even if you feel hungry while dieting, it’s usually less than you think. The cleanse is designed to help you change your eating habits and you’ll find that you don’t want to eat the same way afterwards – you’ll want more fruits and vegetables and healthier foods.
Like all short-term diets, the Lemonade Diet is not a miracle weight loss cure. Although it helps to improve health and eat well, the results are only temporary. It’s up to you to make the necessary lifestyle changes to make any weight loss sustainable.
