A pound of fat contains 3500 calories, by walking or running you can burn 100 calories per mile. 100 calories per mile isn’t right for everyone, but you can figure out your own equation by doing some quick math. Multiply your body weight in kilograms by 0.63 to find calories burned per mile. For example, if you weigh 200 kilograms, multiply 200 by 0.63 to give the answer 126, which means that every mile you walk – you will burn up to 126 calories.

So how many walks does it take to lose 1 pound? According to the previous equation – you will lose 1 pound of fat for every 35 miles you walk. I know that seems like a lot of walking, but what if you make some changes in your diet at the same time? What if you could replace fast food with healthier, natural foods? What if you could replace candy and sweet chocolate with healthy, healthier snacks? At the very least, you will create a deficit of 250 calories per day just by adjusting your diet.

Now, let’s say you run 9 miles a week, and you follow a healthy diet that saves you 250 calories a day.
