How to Use Detox Diet Program to Lose Weight

Detox diet programs are available in various forms, such as:

o Detox by eating fresh fruits and vegetables

o Detox by eating only ‘clean’ foods

o Detox by drinking only juices from fruits and vegetables

o Detox by drinking only distilled water

There are also special types of cleansing methods, designed for specific areas of the body such as the liver, kidneys, blood, lungs, colon, intestines, and skin. Most detox diet programs are aimed at cleansing the entire body.

Regular bowel movements are important during a detox program as this will ensure that toxins that are flushed out of the body are not reabsorbed as harmful substances remain ‘stuck’ in the colon.

One good way to get rid of body waste regularly is to drink a glass of filtered water mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice and two teaspoons of ground flax seeds every morning. Continue drinking lemon water until evening. Flax seeds and lemon juice have a mild laxative effect.

In order to cleanse properly, the body needs a full supply of fluids. This can be water or juice from fruits and vegetables. The classic advice ‘drink eight glasses a day’ is still effective because water flushes out toxins.

Below is an example of a detox diet menu. These foods are intended for beginners in the detox diet program. Feel free to change anything to suit your personal needs and preferences.

o When you get out of bed: Squeeze half a lemon into a glass of water. Mix 1 teaspoon of ground flax seeds and 1 teaspoon of bentonite clay (optional). drink.

o Breakfast: Make a smoothie from pears, rice protein powder, and rice milk. Take a Vitamin C supplement when consuming a smoothie.

o Morning snack: apple juice diluted with water; water; vegetable broth; hummus and celery sticks; and, milk thistle as a supplement.

o Lunch: vegetable soup with pieces of chunky vegetables as an appetizer; steamed beets and broccoli with sesame seeds on brown rice with lemon juice as a main course; apple sauce for dessert; and, multivitamin tablets as a supplement.

o Afternoon snack: Dandelion root tea; Hummus dip with carrot sticks; water; and, milk thistle as a supplement.

o Dinner: lentil curry with quinoa; fresh green salad with garlic-lemon-olive oil dressing; and, vegetable broth.

o Before going to bed: Drink a glass of water with 1 tbsp each of hemp seeds and bentonite clay.

This type of detox diet program will last for 7 days. You may experience some mild side effects like sluggishness and lethargy. If other symptoms occur, stop the program and contact your doctor.
