Avoid Junk Food or Eat Healthier Junk Foods?

As a fitness professional, I am always amazed (and confused) by the conflict people seem to have with losing weight, but they refuse to stop eating junk food. An interesting thing I’ve noticed over the years helping people lose weight is that almost everyone who tells me they’re “trying” to lose weight has their house full of junk food instead of everything else. natural, unprocessed foods.

It’s not uncommon for people to tell me they’re trying really hard to lose weight, but I’ll still see boxes of applesauce and fruit chips on the counter, cookies, candy, and chips in the cupboard, and soda or syrupy juice. in that refrigerator.

So the question that always stumps me is that if all these people honestly want to lose weight so bad, why in the world are most people’s homes full of junk food instead of healthy food?

Interestingly, the answer is usually that they don’t want to give up their favorite foods because they think that eating this junk food allows them to “live a little” … take a bite!

My point is that eating junk food has nothing to do with enjoying your life… In fact, when you give up junk food you actually enjoy life more because you feel better and more energetic every day. Plus, getting in better shape by not eating junk food can obviously improve your body image (and therefore boost your confidence), thus making you happier in life.

One thing that many people don’t realize is that eating healthy doesn’t mean eating bland and boring food. However, when you learn to enjoy unprocessed natural food and start exploring all the varieties of natural food that this planet has for us, you learn that you can enjoy the natural taste of real food more than the aggressively processed taste that is so common. with very sweet and salty junk food.

An example of this is the other day I wanted unsweetened iced tea while out on the street, but all that was available at this store was a bottle of very sweet iced tea. Well, I have not bought fully sweetened iced tea in probably at least a few years now… I have gotten used to drinking unsweetened iced tea and have learned to appreciate the natural taste of tea without the need for sugar or other sweeteners.

When I drank this bottle of sweet tea, I almost choked because it was so syrupy sweet, it was really bad.

Same example… I used to need a lot of sugar in my coffee, but after slowly reducing the amount of sugar I would use in my coffee, I can now drink black coffee and enjoy its natural taste without the need for sweetener (even though I rarely drink coffee).

These are just a few examples that if you start to appreciate the natural taste of real food, you will find that you don’t need the super-aggressive salty, sugary or artificial flavors that have been planted in us by the food companies and all the junk food they push on us.

My belief is that everyone should enjoy what they eat, and be able to do it without eating highly processed junk food… Actually, people are often surprised to hear that many foods are considered junk food, I have healthy alternatives. which was never thought of.

Some examples:

Junk food: chocolate candy, chocolate donuts, or chocolate cake

A healthier alternative: a few pieces of extra-dark chocolate (more than 70-75% chocolate content only) … this is higher in fiber and less sugar than milk chocolate or even dark chocolate with less than 70% chocolate content.

Junk food: Breaded and breaded chicken fingers and fries on the side (lots of nasty trans fat)

A healthier alternative: grilled chicken breast strips with peanut dipping sauce and vegetables on the side

Junk food: cheap fast-food burgers on processed white buns

A healthier alternative: Grass-fed burger (higher in CLA and omega-3 fats) with grass-fed raw cheese on a sprouted wheat roll

How about eating healthier but still tastes great!

I hope that what you get from this article is that you live more than you eat junk food, and that eating junk food does not mean you “live less” as many people say. However, I feel the opposite.
